Fundraising Manager for SAFE for Animals
SAFE (Save Animals From Exploitation) is New Zealand’s leading animal rights organisation. We make significant improvements to the lives of animals by challenging attitudes and fostering compassion so that they are no longer exploited or abused by humans.
About the role:
SAFE is seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager with a deep commitment to animal rights and welfare, paired with expertise in fundraising, specifically regular giving and mid-level programmes. This is a full-time remote role (within New Zealand) and is an unique opportunity to advance the fundraising efforts of the team and make a real difference.
The Fundraising Manager will work in conjunction with the Head of Fundraising to implement short, medium and long-term plans from the Strategic Plan to 2030. A key strategic objective is the diversification of income streams, with a strong focus on the delivery against strategic goals and the achievement of annual fundraising targets.
As the Fundraising Manager you will lead the ‘Heart for Animals’ Regular giving programme (retention and acquisition), and the Mid-level donor programme, while working alongside other team members to help deliver new projects, including key fundraising communications and fundraising marketing collateral.
Ideal candidate:
- A minimum of 5 years fundraising experience
- Experience with optimising fundraising marketing including regular giving campaigns, direct mail, and newsletters (ideally in a general fundraising role).
- Some experience of stewardship, particularly in-house phone calls.
- Confident user of databases with the ability to analyse data to achieve better results (Raisers Edge a plus).
- Knowledge of fundraising tools including Mail Chimp.
- Proven success in achieving fundraising targets.
- A fundamental understanding of animal rights and welfare advocacy

This is an exciting opportunity to join the small but mighty fundraising team at SAFE. This role will suit a general fundraiser who loves to develop innovative fundraising campaigns, and create fundraising marketing collateral. You will need to bring exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, but most importantly be a collaborative and passionate fundraising team member.
