Lead the design and construction of a state-of-the-art processing facility in Portugal.

Develop strategies to expand the Company's operating footprint and service offerings.

Partner with a high-caliber CEO to develop annual budgets, 5-year business plans, and the compilation and analysis of performance KPIs. Coach, train, and mentor a diverse team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and execute the Company’s long-term strategy.
  • Develop the P&L and participate in the ad-hoc analysis of the effectiveness of various business operations using all data sources available, recommending actions, and resulting modifications in strategy.
  • Recommend data-driven business strategies for facility construction, equipment acquisition, and development of equipment lifecycle plans.
  • Research, analyze, propose, and implement industry-leading and “game-changing” sustainability, by-product production, supply chain expansion, or other strategies to lead the Company’s push for entrepreneurial and innovative business strategies.
  • Support the development of strong business relationships with growers and customers.
  • Leverage industry relationships for potential strategic partnerships or new business opportunities.
  • Oversee facility build and capacity development. Identify, vet, and execute expansion opportunities.
  • Negotiate and/or approve agreements and contracts with key customers and suppliers.
  • Establish production and quality control goals focused on maximizing investment by increasing efficiency and throughput.
  • Report operational impacts of the business to the Board of Directors during board meetings.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving and assist with the development of additional freight opportunities and in assuring the safe, timely, and efficient movement of materials.
  • Ensure that production records and inventories are properly maintained and reported to sales and accounting.
  • Evaluate sales trends, forecast sales volumes, and incorporate recommended changes to the company business plans to achieve company profitability goals.
  • Introduce systems, procedures, and performance-based metrics to ensure company goals are met.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Ensure effective labor utilization with greater efficiency and focus on profitability.
  • Develop and enhance the budget process on a continual basis through the education of operations managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience providing strategic operational leadership at a mid-sized food processing company
  • Broad commercial acumen with prior P&L ownership with a track record of managing successful capital projects in a high-growth environment
  • Experience partnering with operations teams to improve budgeting, reporting, resource allocation, and leadership development
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Reputation for exercising sound judgment, data-driven analysis, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Initiative and ability to develop new procedures to make business processes more efficient, and development of reporting systems to analyze and act upon results.
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission.
  • Proven collaborative, negotiation, communication, and integrative skills that are effective at all levels of the organization from the boardroom to the field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field of study (agribusiness or ag economics), industrial engineering, or relevant work experience
