Build the finance, accounting, and IT functions of a private-equity-backed beverage business with an impressive growth trajectory.

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will partner with the CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the Company. The CFO will utilize their broad background and understanding of retail beverage distribution to improve company-wide efficiencies and enhance operating metrics while driving cost awareness throughout the organization.

The CFO will take primary responsibility for the operation and structure of functional finance in a growing business, providing a comprehensive financial and management accounting service to all functional areas of the company, and ensuring appropriate financial corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures are maintained.  In addition to traditional finance responsibilities, the CFO will also oversee regulatory and licensing requirements.


Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the broader finance organization covering finance, accounting, tax, IT, office administration, corporate governance and reporting, regulatory, compliance, legal, and other related functions
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of 3-5 direct reports and provide hands-on coaching and mentorship.  
  • Work hand-in-hand with the CEO and other senior leaders to expand the business and develop a strategic 5-year plan. It is expected that the incumbent to the role will play a significant role in the overall management of the Company and provide additional leadership bandwidth as a senior team member.
  • Establish and execute a finance plan for growth. Negotiate finance facilities, and manage debt amortization payments and covenant reporting. 
  • Liaise with, support, and/ or manage interactions with a range of third parties including lenders, insurance providers, IT support, legal advisors, etc.
  • Commercial lead for evaluation and planning for new investments and capital programs. 
    • Provide relevant reporting and analysis of existing business and new opportunities including analysis of current returns on capital, risk levels, setting target returns, strategic analysis, etc.
    • Coordinate structuring of all new business and investments
    • Roll out suitable financial management, reporting, and controls as new regions and projects come online
  • Initiate and manage a range of strategic projects to drive continuous improvement of operational processes. Identify and drive opportunities to improve revenue profit performance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and review (and as needed create or modify) company KPIs reports and address, with appropriate team leads, variations in performance, deviations from budgets, and areas for improvement
  • Work in lockstep with PE partner on strategic and financial priorities. Ensure monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting is prepared to the highest standards
  • Review and monitor existing corporate structure(s) to ensure optimal legal, tax, and financial benefits are achieved. With help of external consultants, manage income tax filing process and ensure tax compliance.
  • Develop practical risk management procedures for each area of the business. Implement delegation of authority and ensure compliance throughout the organization.
  • Oversee benefits and payroll administration, including incentive plans and other related bonus schemes
  • Ensure that accounting systems and processes are fit-for-purpose, develop them where necessary

  • 15+ years of experience with at least five years as a CFO or VP of Finance, and a track record of successfully leading the finance function at a business or company division with at least $50mm of revenue.
  • Meaningful experience in beverage alcohol distribution, CPG retail sales, or a related operational business.
  • An individual who has “come up the ranks” within a finance department and can lead, mentor, and drive results in a hands-on manner.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing the use of systems to enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance required with a preference for candidates with a relevant advanced degree and or certification (such as a CPA, CFA, or MBA)
