Exciting opportunity to join AGR Partners, an established private equity firm with $1B AUM in the global food/ag value chain. The firm originates 200+ off-market investment opportunities per year through a network of food industry executives.

Vice Presidents at the fund are given significant responsibility, with top performers quickly migrating into a deal lead position. You will be involved in origination, investment structuring, analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management.

 

This critical position offers a $150-200K base salary + 100% bonus + carry + comprehensive healthcare + 401(k) plus the opportunity to join a fun and fast-paced work environment with significant upside.

 

What will you be doing?

VPs are relied upon for a wide range of activities; specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead aspects of transaction execution and manage third-party service providers while supporting senior investment team members.
  • Design, structure, and carry out due diligence analyses, including industry research, market, and competitive assessments, transaction-related financial modeling, analysis of company financials and operational data, etc.
  • Compose letters of intent and other deal-related documents, including deal-related presentation materials.
  • Lead efforts to translate letters of intent/term sheet to definitive deal documentation.
  • Act as the point of contact in meetings with management teams / C-level leadership, intermediaries, and financing sources.
  • Assist in the origination and evaluation of potential investment opportunities including business development activities (e.g. conferences, trade shows, management tours, etc.)
  • Lead monitoring of initiatives to drive value creation within the portfolio.
  • Active board member or board observer roles.
  • Involvement in a range of firm-building activities, including business development, lender management, recruiting, training, etc.
  • Mentor analysts and associates to develop core analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Active participation in firm decision-making processes.

 

The Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years of private equity, structured investment, investment banking, and/or corporate development experience. A combination of experiences and exposure to the food/ag industry is ideal.
  • History of professional and academic success and a high degree of intellectual horsepower.
  • A keen interest in investing, capital allocation, and the overall global food supply chain from field to fork.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform company valuations, prepare investment reports and conduct rigorous diligence and analytical analyses.
  • Highly collaborative and the ability to work closely with other professionals both within the firm and with portfolio companies - a sense of humor is a distinct advantage.
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to multi-task, track responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • An inquiring, conscientious personality with a sincere interest in learning.
  • Ability to work in either the Northern California or Chicago, IL offices.
  • The desire and ability to travel for business development and transaction-related work as needed.
